Here's a compilation of some of the music that caught my attention since the last time I did one of these things. The links to the songs are in the headings. |

Lets start off with some church bells and a bit of nostalgia. A seriously underrated song in my opinion.
Back from the days when the music industry was awash with money and could make videos like this.

Saluting
Magpies - In Fear of Olive I was rather blown away by In Fear of Olive when I caught them at Oporto in June. There's a ramshackle rockabilly feel to this song. The drummer's pretty impressive as well. |

A good video for a good song by a good band. What's not to like.
Yet another quality local band from West Yorkshire.

Slow
- Piskie Sits
There's a dearth of good videos on YouTube for Piskie Sits. So here's a link to Soundcloud. This song is a kind of lost classic of theirs. It doesn't feature in their live set at the moment and was chucked away as a b-side I believe. Perhaps we should start a campaign to get it back into their live set?

Raga Jhinjhoti - Giuliano Modarelli & Upneet Singh Something a little bit different. This is an Italian guitarist I caught live at the Brudenell. He is heavily into Indian music. When I saw him live he was solo and he created his own percussion by banging his guitar and looping the results.

Some Lightning Thrill - Cave Birds Live I'm not completely convinced by this band. One good and one average performance so far. This song is pretty good though. Catchy and dancey. |

A bit of old school punk rock late seventies style from Chapter 13.

The
House that Heaven Built - Japandroids
I get a lot of music via my emusic account these days. Japandroids came recommended from this source. The name suggests some weird synthy band to me. But actually they are a duo (guitar and drums) playing loud, fast, sloppy rock and roll. Not the best quality this performance but its got energy and humor.
