Here's a compilation of some of the music that caught my attention since the last time I did one of these things. The links to the songs are in the headings. |

I know people who think that the modern practice of using loop pedals is 'cheating'. Presumably they don't approve of the use of amplification and electricity either :-)
Anyway here's Merril Garbus better known as Tune Yards. Its excellent stuff - funky and tribal sounding.
Cheating doesn't even come into it. The timing as to be spot on to carry this off.

Two
Devils - Dog is Dead
Despite the weird transalantic nature of the singer's accent this band come from Nottingham. Not the most original act but they've got loads of good songs and a great live act. |

Born in the 70's - Ed Harcourt
An often overlooked talent Ed Harcourt as been around for years without making a real impact - including on me.
Every time I see him though I really enjoy it. So come on look this guy up.

Girl
- Alaska As recommended to me by the girl behind the bar at Normans. They were really good at Quidrophenia at Oporto. This video is slightly creepy by the way,

As explained elsewhere I didn't actually manage to see Django Django live but Mrs Windbag did and she liked them. So me watching this video is my first exposure to them. It sounds pretty good to me. Interesting mix of fifties rocknroll guitar and modern synth sounds.

Wenceslas Square - Goodnight Lenin Something a bit more trad. This likeable bunch of lads play acoustic pop and I caught them at the Summer Sundae festival. |

This lot are from Sheffield. I first saw them a couple of years ago down the bill at the Leadmill but not caught them since. So it was pleasing to find them playing Summer Sundae and reassuring to find that I still really liked them. Epic pop tunes with a slightly weird edge to them seems to be their stock in trade.

Robots
- Dan Mangan
Always leave them wanting more is my motto. So here's Dan Mangan. He's an impossibly fun live act. Hopefully this video will make you realise why.
