Here's a compilation of some of the music that caught my attention since the last time I did one of these things.

The links to the songs are in the headings.

These White Walls - Swear and Shake

I love this rickety country rocker. From a band we saw live in New York last month.

If you listen to one song on here make sure its this one.

All I've Got - Lucy Rose

Lucy Rose seems to have sneaked up from nowhere this year. Having seen her last year doing backing vocals with Bombay Bicycle Club she's now sold out the Brudenell Social Club.

Here's a nice intimate video of her playing by a canal.

The Healthy One - Laura Stevenson and the Cans

A live song from another band we saw live in New York.

They have an accordion which gives it a little bit of a different sort of sound.

There Has to be a Reason - Pete Roe

I think Pete Roe was one of the best support acts I saw last month. He was on with Lucy Rose.

If you were to analyse this song its quite sparse but its so beautifully put together.

Lament - Mount Moriah

This band blew me away live but what I've heard on record hasn't quite matched that, yet.

However this is probably the best recorded song and it was great live as well.

This video is pretty interesting as well.

Stars - David McCaffrey

Up and coming singer songwriter from York. He's shockingly young and very promising.

Look Out Mama - Hurray for The Riff Raff

Yet another band we saw in New York.

A rootsy band from New Orleans. Very good live.

There are a lot of these initimate live videos around at the moment. Especially by acoustic artists. Still I prefer them to the moody promo videos of old.

When You're Young - The Jam

A bit of a nostalgia for the last song.

This is one of my favourite Jam songs although its probably not one of their most famous. I particularly like the outro.
